Five inspiring young Trekstock supporters from Perth, Scotland have seen a deserved wave of success for their photo book which has been raising funds for Trekstock.

‘Perceptions of Youth: What Do You Think Of Young People?’ is a creation of Niamh, Kirsty, Rachael, Alicia and Sean which aims to positively challenge the way that people think of their generation through the medium’s of photography and words. By approaching 12 organisations, the team collected a variety of thought-provoking photography and phrases that they felt suitably summed up both the positive and negative ways that the general public can perceive young people.

“It was very important to us that we do something meaningful with what we had created, so we have decided to ask for donations for the book in order to raise money for Trekstock.  So far we have raised over £300 and the book is now available in Waterstones (Perth) and other community spaces.  We are currently planning an exhibition of the photography from the book which will shown around libraries in the Perth and Kinross area.

“We have a won a Perth and Kinross ‘Spirit of Youth Award’ for our contribution to the arts locally and we are also being nominated for a national RIBI Active Citizen Awards and a Perth and Kinross Council ‘Securing the Future Award’.

“National organisation ‘Generations Working Together’ has asked us to devise an educational resource to go with the book and are keen to use both nationally as a tool for intergenerational working.  We have also been asked to take part in the ‘Generations Working Together’ 2015 conference in Glasgow.”
